Silversea Cruises took delivery of its newest ship, the Silver Dawn, from Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy, months ahead of its scheduled launch.
The 596-passenger Dawn is the 10th ship in the cruise line’s fleet and a sister to the Silver Moon, which launched this summer, and the Silver Muse, delivered in April 2017.
The Dawn will debut the line’s new wellness and spa concept, Otium, when the ship begins sailing in spring 2022. Otium’s concept is “inspired by the philosophy of the Roman baths and infused with the expert art of nonstop pampering Silversea has become famous for,” the line said. While the Dawn’s spa remains the same size as the Moon’s, its layout has been modified and redesigned for Otium, with a new infinity fountain in the center of the relaxation room.
The Dawn is the third ship to join Silversea’s fleet since the start of the pandemic, following the Silver Origin and the Silver Moon.
“In spite of the pandemic, we have been able to keep all deliveries in line with the contractual dates,” said Luigi Matarazzo, a general manager for Fincantieri. “That’s why I am particularly pleased to celebrate the delivery of Silver Dawn, just a few months after the successful delivery of her sister vessel, Silver Moon.”
The ceremony was attended virtually by parent company executives, Royal Caribbean Group CEO Richard Fain and CFO Jason Liberty.
