Grandad, 83, documents wild Amsterdam holiday with cocktails and ‘weed’ socks

Going on holiday with your family is likely to become less of a thing when you grow up.

But, these women decided to take their 83-year-old grandad on a getaway.

It wasn't on a relaxing cruise or a coastal walking holiday – as pensioner Billy enjoyed a trip away to Amsterdam.

Aine Kennedy documented the trip to the city – known by tourists for its coffee shops and saucy Red Light District.

And in videos posted to TikTok, Billy looked like he had a blast.

After a quick kip on the Ryanair flight, Billy and his granddaughters made it to The Netherlands capital.

They kicked off their first day exploring, which sparked a huge smile from the grandad who declared he was "happy".

The trio went for breakfast and then went on a boat tour around he canals.

Billy captured moments on his smart phone as Aine quipped that he wouldn't have "enough storage."

Having soaked up some history, the family visited a bar where the grandad enjoyed a toasty and "a few" fruity looking cocktails.

And, of course, washed down with a pint of Guinness.

The trio later visited the Anne Frank Museum, which Billy appeared moved by. He rated the tour an "11/10."

The holiday to Amsterdam did not stop there as Aine and the pensioner went on Over The Edge at A'DAM, which is Europe's highest swing.

Dangling 100 metres over the ground, the swing was no match for thrill-seeker Billy as he got off the ride with a massive grin on his face.

To really get in touch with the culture, the grandad even bought some socks with a marijuana leaf design.

The TikTok clips have collectively racked up millions of views and thousands of likes.

Having touched the hearts of many, people fled to the comments to praise the relationship between the pensioner and his granddaughters

One person commented: "My heart can’t take how cute he is."

Another user added: "You are so lucky to have your grandad at that age and for him to be well and able. Cherish every moment."

While a third voiced: "My grandparents are in their 80s too. I wish I could take them abroad but they’re too scared to go on a plane for the first time now."

Someone else gushed: "Love how smartly dressed he Is with his wee shirt and tie."

Meanwhile, a fifth declared: "This makes me so so happy."
