Anyone who’s flown abroad has met a flight attendant and knows that their job involves securing the plane, serving customers and keeping us all safe.
But, as an air hostess there is plenty of behind-the-scenes action that passengers don’t see.
A female cabin crew member took to Reddit to answer peoples questions about the industry – and she didn’t hold anything back.

From hook-ups between crew members to handing out free upgrades she detailed it all on Reddit for curious customers.
Check out what she said below…
Romance on board
The flight attendant said: “Well, since many are young and the job makes steady relationships quite difficult, hookups are something many attendants embrace.
“And there is no lack of opportunities since the uniform is way better than anything like Tinder.”
Someone asked about taking a crew member out for a drink.
She replied: “Usually [we go to] airport hotels or close by.
“Well, there is no general trick for taking one out, just be friendly and honest about your intention and just chat her up.
“Just make sure she is not busy when you ask her.”
A poster asked: “What's the worst thing, in your opinion, a passenger can do on a flight (that doesn't result in being arrested)?”
To which the cabin crew member noted: “Sexual acts and behaviour aimed at the flight attendants, thats the worst.”
She added: “Unfortunately many guys [have] a bit too much to drink and get touchy and grabby. Just tell them off politely first but when it gets too much some restraining has to be done.
“Big trouble for them at the airport, but generally just staying calm and ignoring them works best.”

The flight attendant was asked about how long crew members get to enjoy the exotic locations they jet off to.
She explained: “Depends on the route and schedule.
“It’s common to have several short-haul flights in a row. Basically the longer the flight, the longer the layover. 48h is usually the maximum time you get off there.”
And, her favourite layovers include places where she can go on a night out.
The attendant noted: “Generally, big cities with good public transport between airports and downtown are the best places since it’s easier to go out and see something when the layover isn't that long.
“That being said a nice beach is perfect for 48h layovers. Sydney or Dubai are pretty good.”
Travel expert warns Brits of common First Class upgrade scam to avoid
When asked what baggage she would recommend, the woman said: “Well, that varies a lot. First of all it has to be light and durable.
“Hard case trolleys are best. You don't do wrong with the big brands like Rimowa, Titan or Halliburton. Just make sure it has a long warranty.”
One person asked: “Do you ever get nervous or scared? You all seem so freakin unflappable.”
The air hostess replied: “It’s all experience and training. We are trained to stay calm all the time and smile. Newbies sometimes are a bit scared but it goes away quickly.”
Mile High Club
When asked about flight attendants sleeping with passengers on-board, the crew member said: “It's a very rare thing but I must admit, it does happen. But after all it's just between two persons and how they get along.”
A passenger asked: "There's a free seat in business class or, better yet, first class. Is there any move I can make to get it?"
To which the flight attendant noted: “Yes, it’s not easy but there are ways to qualify. Be really, really friendly.
“Help an attendant when necessary (lifting bags, help with spilled drinks).
“We might be nicer when we see you are struggling (2m tall guys in economy, very annoying person next to you).”
