A naked cruise that seeks to encourage body positivity set sail round Sydney Harbour recently – but caused some major backlash.
The boating adventure, created by Get Naked Australia, hopes to promote naturism and getting nude while surrounded by nature.
However, the nudist cruise attracted plenty of attention – and not all of it was positive.

Some labelled the butt-baring display as an act of freedom and a bit of fun.
One person said on Instagram: “Long live nudity!”
While another commented that it showed “freedom and friendship” and a third giggled: “Wish I lived in Australia!”
Those taking part in the cruise were encouraged to “Sail, swim, sunbake, dance, drink and discover.”
But others said those involved were “crazy” and had “no shame”.
Another added: “No thought for those on the other boats, children, or anyone else for that matter.”
While one Twitter user wrote: “Get Naked Australia cruise in Sydney Harbour sparks upset – it's obvious you are all showoffs — so go for it — just use plenty of sun lotion because there is nothing worse than tomato red boobs and other things.”
Some dubbed the activity “disgusting” and “disrespectful”.
The next naked cruise will take place in December and has 125 people signed up to bare it all.
Founder Brendan Jones created Get Naked Australia in 2017 after taking a photo of himself “naked on a clifftop with my arms in the air and bum to the camera”.
He quickly attracted over 100,000 followers and went viral with many other nudists choosing to share their naked photos in the wild online.
Brendan added: “The purpose was to have fun, help improve the way you see your own body and to help remove the stigma associated with nudity.
“That is, that nudity is immediately linked with something sexual. We want people to treat naked bodies as simply that, just a naked body.”
He claims he doesn’t “want a world where people never get to experience the joy of swimming in the ocean naked.”
He also wants to “reshape the naturist culture here in Australia.”
The Get Naked Australia cruise claims to stick to legal activities during their boating adventure.

Brendan explained that they usually sail around to one of the nude beaches available in Sydney Harbour and wait to get the thumbs up from their skipper before stripping off.
Brendan told news.com.au : “People love to be outraged by something that doesn’t affect them in anyway”.
